About Vishal Mehra

Born into travel. Shaped by experience. Driven by a lifelong passion for India, Nepal, and Bhutan. I started on the ground as a trip leader and, over 36 years, evolved into a curator of seamless, high‑touch journeys for HNIs and their advisors.

Vishal Mehra — Luxury Travel Curator

Born Into Travel

My father worked with Royal Nepal Airlines, so I grew up between runways and mountain skies. Early exposure to air travel and frequent visits to Nepal sparked an enduring fascination with movement, culture, and the stories places tell. Regular international family vacations amplified that spark — every journey broadened my worldview and taught me how travel refines understanding.

A chance to volunteer at the World Airlines Clubs Association (WACA) meeting in Delhi changed my life. Immersed in the energy of global travel professionals, I knew I belonged in this world. I jumped into the inbound tourism industry, ready to learn the craft from the ground up.

From Trip Leader to Travel Curator

Speaking German opened the door to leading German‑speaking group tours across India. Those early years taught me rhythm: logistics, storytelling, and the humility to solve a hundred small problems before they reached my guests. By 1995, I had transitioned to the English‑speaking luxury market — smaller groups, higher stakes, deeper personalization.

From 2000 to 2005, I focused almost exclusively on HNI, UHNWI, private jet travelers and bespoke wildlife journeys. Himalaya to Thar, temple towns to tiger reserves — I walked every path I sell. That’s why I can promise seamlessness, not surprises.

Three Defining Experiences

Understanding Luxury

An HNI client once asked for a private jet because a 5:00 AM commercial flight wasn’t acceptable. That day I learned: true luxury is freedom — time, comfort, and control over the journey.

Making the Impossible Happen

A client’s vision, widely deemed unrealistic, became real through patience, planning, and deep local relationships. Luxury is 80% anticipation and 20% execution — both must be flawless.

Ground Reality

Years of scouting taught me when to say “no.” Once, for a recce, I insisted on a bus instead of a car. It wasn’t glamorous — it was correct. Ground truth keeps luxury, luxury.

“Luxury isn’t about how much you spend — it’s about how deeply you connect with a place, and how effortlessly it all comes together.” — Vishal Mehra

Today

As Head of Sales at IndiHorizons, I support travel advisors and discerning travelers who expect precision, privacy, and access. My role is to make sure every itinerary reflects the traveler’s personality and unfolds without friction — from private darshans and conservation‑minded safaris to design‑forward stays and seamless aviation logistics.

What excites me today is the same thing that drew me in decades ago: curating exceptional journeys and hearing, “That was the trip of a lifetime.”
